Meet Managing Director of “The Ambiance Project” also called TAP; Deryck Dhanie and his team is dedicated to reviving the environmental harmony and equilibrium of their Beautiful country Trinidad and Tobago. By facing the trash endemic problem plaguing their Country.
Throughout this beautiful twin island nation, trash pervades every corner, crevice and sanctum. It is clear to t TAP the agencies responsible for ensuring their environment is well taken care of; is not fully equipment to maintain it by their selves.
“The sheer volume of the task is mammoth and they are under-resourced for it,” says Deryck Dhanie.
The Ambiance Project an NGO (Non-profit Group Organization) looks to fill that void with both physical and educational resources they have available. Through the tools TAP has access to, they believe that they can make a contribution, firstly by collecting the garbage, secondly, by recycling/upcycling some of the garbage and thirdly by educating the school children throughout the community.
One of TAP resources is called Seabin Project; a very creative and innovative solution to garbage in our waters. It collects garbage floating in the water on a 24/7 basis. From this, they ensure the garbage is sent to recycling centers. Through the Seabin Project They have the ability incorporate The Global Ambassador Programme (GA’s) to educate our school children.
“They are more involved in the collecting of the trash, sorting, weighing and then uploading this data to an international database, and thus becoming GA’s”
– Deryck Dhanie.
“Global Ambassador Programme has kids returning to their schools, their friends, families and educate them about the garbage, the volumes, the dangers and hopefully, we can transform more and more of our population into more Environmentally Literate people.”
The Ambiance Project has truly made strives in their initiative to clean up the country.
Starting from Reform Village word has spread and their support has grown; They are now working on a systemic cycle in cleaning the country.
“As support grows, the endeavor to be more visible in the effort to demonstrate to Trinidad and Tobago; that there is a need to be more conscious of what we leave when we visit the beaches.”
-Deryck Dhanie.
We have begun a Murals Project where young artists from various schools will be allowed an opportunity to create mural in their schools. This will enable more environmental awareness. This is in coordination with another NGO, Art By Creative Design (ABCD).
The Ambiance Project has truly made their hope and reality with Chapters in Lesotho, Nepal, Cameroon, Ghana, Ethiopia, India, Kenya and others where other NGO’s will coordinate their activites with us to work together to raise awareness.
